After completing the installation of new pipelines in the area, the Estepona City Council has reopened Avenida Puerta del Mar to traffic. The works were carried out to enhance the sewage, water supply, and rainwater collection network in the region. The Consistory is focused on adapting and providing necessary infrastructure and services to areas of the municipality that require it due to growth and urban development. Specifically, in the urbanization of the La Calera sector, connection works on the Monterroso Stream embankment have been completed to optimize the sewage and supply network. A new collector has been set up in the vault, connecting it to the Las Mesas stream. Additionally, connections have been established from the new development area to the existing sewerage and water supply networks in the vicinity. These works are part of the urban development project for the La Calera land, as outlined by the Estepona Town Council in accordance with the current General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) of Estepona and the approved Detailed Study. The sector’s owners are responsible for financing these improvements, which include road network, water supply, sewage connection, and electricity supply. The completion of these service connections has required traffic rearrangements in the vicinity of Juan Carlos I Avenue and Puerta del Mar Avenue, leading to temporary traffic cuts. However, Avenida Puerta del Mar has now been reopened to traffic after weeks of complex work, particularly in the connection of the new collector from Arroyo Las Mesas to the Monterroso embankment.
