Collaboration of the Municipality with the CUDECA Foundation in the Preparation of a Russian Theatrical Performance in Support of its Palliative Care Program

The theatrical play ‘Father’ is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 11 at the Felipe VI Auditorium, under the direction of Vladimir Beldiayan. The Municipality of Estepona has announced that on Friday, April 11, at 7.30 p.m., the play ‘Dad’ will be showcased at the Felipe VI Auditorium, as a charitable event to raise funds for the CUDECA Foundation’s palliative care program. The play will be performed in Russian. ‘Dad’ is a tragicomedy based on Florian Zeller’s ‘The Father’, a renowned French playwright. It portrays a realistic family story that captivates the audience from the start. Directed by Vladimir Beldiayan with scenography by Alexander Lisyansky, the main actors Sergey Makovetskiy and Maria Ryshchenkova narrate the tale of a father and daughter navigating through the challenges of mental deterioration. The play follows the protagonist André, an 80-year-old former dancer living in Paris with his daughter Anna and her husband Antoine. Or perhaps André was an engineer and his daughter resides in London with her new partner Pierre? Why is André in his nightwear unable to locate his watch? Numerous peculiar incidents unfold leaving André questioning the reality around him. Despite his confusion, André is determined to uphold his beliefs. Florian Zeller, the playwright, has received accolades for ‘Father’, including the prestigious Molière Prize in 2014. Performances of the play have been highly successful worldwide. The CUDECA Foundation, a charitable organization, provides specialized medical care and emotional support to individuals with cancer and other terminal illnesses, along with their families. Established in 1992 by Joan Hunt, a British expatriate residing on the Costa del Sol, the foundation has assisted over 19,000 patients through its comprehensive programs. Offering services such as home care, day and rehabilitation center, hospitalization unit, psychosocial support, counseling, and outpatient consultations, CUDECA focuses on holistic care encompassing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects. In 2024, the foundation supported over 1,900 patients and aided nearly 2,400 family members.
