The tapa ‘Caramelized Cheeks with Creamy Potato and Poit’ was voted as the best by most customers, while the ‘Iberian Presa Carpaccio’ tapa was selected by a professional jury. Estepona City Council announced that ‘La Esquina del Arte’ and ‘Plata Beach’ are the winners of the ‘Best Tapa’ contest at the XIV Tapa Route ‘Taste Estepona’ event, part of the ‘Estepona Lives Its Streets’ event that took place last weekend. ‘La Esquina del Arte’ won with their ‘Caramelized Cheeks with Creamy Potato and Poit’ tapa, while ‘Plata Beach’ impressed the professional judges: Lourdes Muñoz, Jacinto Castillo, and Manuel Balanzino, who chose their ‘Iberian Presa Carpaccio’. Both establishments will receive a commemorative plaque from the council and a cash prize of 1,000 euros each. A total of 32 establishments participated in the contest, which also included a raffle for customers who visited at least five venues, with prizes such as hotel stays, spa treatments, concert tickets, and dining experiences. This year, a panel of gastronomy experts was introduced to select the top tapa. Councillor Macarena Diánez expressed gratitude to all the businesses and participants for showcasing the excellence of local cuisine.
