Estepona’s Botanical Park, established as a key tourist destination in the area, boasts the largest orchid collection in Spain and one of the most significant in Europe. The Estepona City Council reveals that the Botanical-Orchidarium Park, which opened its doors in March 2015, has reached a milestone of half a million visits over its first ten years of operation, solidifying its status as a top tourist attraction in Estepona. With a diverse array of over 3,000 plant species, including approximately 1,500 orchids, this municipal facility stands out as a leading botanical destination in the region, drawing admiration from both visitors and locals alike. The majority of visitors are from Spain, with notable numbers also coming from various European countries, the United States, Argentina, China, and Morocco. In 2024, the park experienced a peak in visitors, surpassing 54,000, particularly during the blooming season in spring. The structure of the Botanical-Oquidarium Park, featuring three iconic glass domes housing numerous orchid species and a captivating waterfall, has significantly enhanced the city’s landscape. The exterior area, encompassing over 15,000 square meters of green space, complements the urban development project ‘Estepona, garden of the Costa del Sol’. The Orchidarium’s mission revolves around conserving its botanical treasures and promoting Estepona’s rich botanical heritage through educational initiatives and public tours, fostering a deeper connection between the community and nature.
