A proposal has been put forward by the Consistory to expand the municipal network of public parking lots by incorporating three private parking lots into the system at a cost of one euro per day. The three concessionary companies currently managing these parking lots on a rotation basis have been approached with this acquisition proposal. The private parking lots in question are situated on Avenida España (Zapallito and Inmecam) and Calle Melilla (La Viña). Municipal technicians and concessionaires will conduct an objective evaluation to determine the market price and remaining concession period of each parking lot. The aim is to make these parking spaces available to citizens at an affordable rate in order to facilitate access. The management of these parking lots, like others in the system, would eventually be overseen by a charity focused on integrating disadvantaged or vulnerable groups into the workforce. The municipal parking plan initiated by the Estepona City Council already offers four parking areas for one euro per day, providing over 2,000 parking spaces. Additionally, the plan has created job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, with up to 37 contracts formalized through an agreement with the Aprona Association. The four public parking lots in the city are located at Antonia Guerrero square, the Athletics Stadium, the Chess Square, and the new Town Hall building. The council is also working on expanding the public parking network with two new parking lots under construction, one near the Church of Carmen and the other at Central Park boulevard. Furthermore, a new parking area is planned for the La Lobilla zone.
