The new path linking El Saladillo and the surroundings of Dos Hermanas was opened by the mayor, José María García Urbano, and the president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado. This municipal project, in progress since 2011, is almost finished, reaching 95% completion. Estepona City Council is dedicated to creating a vast coastal promenade connecting the entire coast and has now unveiled a new section in the Benamara area. This latest addition brings the total connected coastline to over 20 kilometers. The mayor, José María García Urbano, and Francisco Salado, accompanied by Manuel Cardeña, president of the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol West, inspected the new walkway. The path spans three meters in width and is open for public use, catering to pedestrians, cyclists, and light vehicles. Construction, totaling 918,354 euros (VAT included), was entrusted to Transportes y Excavaciones Valle del Sol, SL and funded by the Consistory. García Urbano emphasized the significance of this sustainable urban development project in preserving and enhancing the coastal area, transforming it into a new tourist hotspot for the municipality. He highlighted that the construction of a comprehensive pedestrian corridor along Estepona’s coastline commenced in 2011, reflecting one of the key strategic initiatives undertaken at the start of his mayoral term. García Urbano expressed gratitude to the Provincial Council and the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol West for their support, as both entities have contributed to various sections through joint funding. Meanwhile, Francisco Salado commended the mayor for his dedication and strong commitment to the province’s Coastal Path, a joint initiative involving the council, coastal municipalities, and the Junta de Andalucía, aimed at enhancing the region’s tourist appeal. García Urbano revealed that efforts are ongoing, with upcoming works planned for the Playa Baños-Matas Verdes area and projects in the pipeline for Bahia Dorada and Atalaya.
