With more than 2,000 bibliographic references from top publishers, users are required to hold a membership card from the Andalusian Public Libraries network. The Municipality of Estepona has announced that the Contemporary Cultures Library, situated in the Cultural Center Mirador del Carmen, has initiated its book borrowing service, granting access to its vast collection of recently acquired works. Presently, the library boasts over 2,000 references, catering to readers of all ages, with a notable selection of youth and children’s literature. The library director, Alejandro Simón Partal, highlights that the collection comprises newly acquired works from renowned publishing houses that are pivotal in contemporary Spanish literary scene, including Libros del Asteroide, Errata Naturae, Acantilado, and Impedimenta, among others. Moreover, the library offers specialized catalogs on art and the environment for enthusiasts seeking to delve deeper into these subjects. To avail of the borrowing service, users must possess a membership card from the Andalusian Public Library Network, which can be obtained either in person at the Mirador del Carmen library or through the website www.bibliotecasdeandalucia.es. Loans are granted for a 15-day period, with the option to extend for another ten days. The Contemporary Cultures Library, housed within the eight floors of the Mirador del Carmen tower, is equipped with cutting-edge technology and a diverse array of bibliographic resources tailored for visitors of all ages. It features a podcast recording studio, a ‘makespace’ zone for new media, digital printing, and digital art, workshop areas, an audiovisual room, a gaming section, virtual reality setups, coworking spaces, and robotics initiation workshops. The center aims to offer visitors a distinctive daily experience, transforming it into a second home where they can immerse themselves in cultural and technological pursuits. The library serves as a dynamic venue for hosting various events such as book launches, workshops, and discussions organized throughout the year by the Municipal Government.
