Estepona will once again host the Grand Slam K-9 Costa del Sol event, featuring top K-1, Boxing, and MMA fights in its upcoming edition called ‘The Rising’. International fighters will showcase their skills at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos this Saturday, February 22. The action-packed day will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with an amateur gala, followed by the professional gala starting at 5:30 p.m. The event was announced by Luis Gil, the sports councilman, Manuel Postigo, the president of Club K-9 Estepona, and renowned champions like Cristopher Mena ‘The Black Mamba’ and Salah Najjan, representing Spain in K-1. This year’s competition will feature K-1, Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, and Boxing, along with the addition of MMA matches to cater to the growing popularity of the sport. Local fighters will also join the competition, alongside 140 athletes from various countries such as Spain, England, Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, Romania, and Morocco. A unique feature of this edition is the two separate galas scheduled for the morning and afternoon. The morning session will include amateur Muay Thai, K-1, and Kick Boxing fights, while the afternoon gala will showcase professional K-1 and Boxing matches. The highlight of the event will be the title matches for the World Slam Series of K-1 and Andalusia, featuring fighters like Estepona’s José Plaza and Marbella’s Vili Jr. In the main event, K-1 world champion Cristopher ‘The Black Mamba’ will face off against Moroccan contender Moha Bull in a battle for the Legends Slam Series title. The evening will also witness Marbella’s Nico ‘Iron’ Gaffie and Fran ‘Sidi’ Ramirez competing for a Slam Series Title against Moroccan champion Ayoub El Khaissi.
