The new roundabout will be situated at the intersection with Alemania Street and will restructure traffic flow around the roundabout at the entrance to Juan Carlos I Avenue. Estepona’s local government has commenced the necessary steps to erect a new roundabout on José Martín Méndez Avenue with the aim of reorganizing traffic in the vicinity, including the roundabout near the entrance to Juan Carlos I Avenue. The current phase involves inviting bids for the construction work. This particular area experiences heavy traffic, particularly during rush hours, as it also serves as a connection to the industrial park. More specifically, the upcoming roundabout will be positioned at the junction of José Martín Méndez and Alemania Street. ‘The goal is to alleviate traffic congestion at the roundabout leading to Avenida Juan Carlos I by introducing new traffic regulations towards the route to the industrial park,’ explains Ana Velasco, Deputy Mayor for Infrastructure and Development. The project is being put out to tender with a starting budget of 401,415.52 euros (including VAT) and an estimated completion time of two months. Additionally, the initiative will include the installation of lighting, irrigation, and the relocation of power lines necessary for the successful implementation of the new roundabout in the area.
