The local government is initiating the process of hiring a team to design a project aimed at revitalizing the area surrounding the Botanical Park, Andalusia Avenue, and Chess Square. Estepona City Council has announced a major project to overhaul the streets and squares near the Botanical-Orchidarium Park, Andalusia Avenue, and Chess Square. The initiative will involve revamping over twenty streets and squares, including upgrades to the pavement, landscaping, infrastructure, and street furniture. Ana Velasco, Deputy Mayor for Development, Infrastructures, and Tourism (FIT), highlights that the objective is to enhance the entire network of streets within the specified area, covering a total of 17,074 square meters. The proposed improvements will focus on modernizing the pavement, infrastructure, landscaping, and street furniture, aligning with ongoing urban development efforts across the city. The project will cover streets such as Plaza Antonio Mingote, Maspalomas, Plaza de la Comunicación, Zurbarán, Hermanos Costaleros, Locutor Juanma Herrera, Salvador Dalí, Pasaje Cristo del Amor, Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, Gibraltar, Greco, Velázquez, Juan Gris, Cid, Híspalis, Ibiza, Sorolla, and Miró. The plan is to use high-quality materials and contemporary design elements to create a cohesive look, along with reorganizing spaces, pavements, and signage. Additionally, the project will include replanting vegetation, adding gardens and trees to enhance the green areas. Infrastructure upgrades will involve enhancing the sewage and water supply system, updating telecommunications, natural gas distribution, public lighting, irrigation, and electricity networks. The budget for drafting the project is set at 234,300 euros (including VAT) with a completion deadline of four months. Following the design phase, the construction bidding process will begin. This initiative is part of a broader neighborhood infrastructure plan scheduled by the City Council for this year, which encompasses projects in areas like Plaza Fuerzas Armadas, Montemayor Street, and Avenida Marqués de Duero in Cancelada.
