A special cleaning plan has been put in place for Easter Week, involving a team of 30 workers. The Estepona City Council has announced that the streets of the old town will be scented with a mix of orange blossom and lemon during Holy Week. This initiative is part of a special cleaning operation launched for the processions taking place. Each day, around 30 workers will be dedicated to ensuring the city presents its best appearance during this significant period. The plan includes thorough cleaning along the processional routes before and after each parade. To achieve this, powerful detergents infused with the fragrances of orange blossom and lemon will be used, reminiscent of the spring blossoms from the city’s iconic orange and citrus trees. These scented products will also be applied around containers and in the historic center streets. Additional waste containers will be strategically placed at the Hermandades houses and churches, with an increased waste collection frequency in the central dining areas. To maintain cleanliness during the processions, containers will be temporarily removed and then reinstated after each parade. Furthermore, each procession will be accompanied by four operators, two leading with a hydro-cleaning vehicle and two following to manually sweep and clear any waste. The cleaning operation will conclude on Holy Saturday with a detailed cleaning of any wax spilled during the processions, using high-pressure hot water from two hydro-cleaning vehicles and a stripper. This special cleaning initiative demonstrates the Estepona City Council’s dedication to preserving the urban environment, particularly during the culturally significant and highly participatory Easter celebration. Additionally, the City Council will enhance the cleaning and maintenance efforts on the popular beaches of La Rada, El Cristo, and El Padron during Easter, building on the recent work to clear storm debris from the coastline.
