A program aimed at promoting work-life balance for families with children under 16 is set to be introduced by the City Council. This initiative will offer school reinforcement, artistic, healthy leisure, and gender equality activities as part of the Corresponsables Plan under the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality of the Andalusian Regional Government. The City Council of Estepona has initiated the administrative process for the procurement of services to develop reconciliation programs for families with minors. The plan includes the establishment of a Guard and Custody Service for children and young people aged 6 to 16, along with training and leisure activities. These initiatives are part of the 2024/2025 Corresponsables Plan, aimed at supporting families with children under 16 through gender equality, creating quality employment in the care sector, and recognizing the professional experience of non-formal care. The program in Estepona includes a subsidy of 136,158 euros and will run until September 15, with the possibility of extension. The service provider must have the necessary facilities and permits to operate six classrooms catering to different age groups, ensuring appropriate play elements for each user. Families with children aged 6 to 16 residing or working in Estepona can access the Guardianship and Custody Service. In addition to this, a program offering training and awareness activities on co-responsibility will be implemented, focusing on inclusive language, female references, values education, teamwork, and equal participation of boys and girls. Operating hours will be from 16:00 to 20:00 on weekdays during the school year and from 9:00 to 14:00 during non-teaching periods. The service will be overseen by a coordinator and monitors trained in first aid and equality. Selection of families for the program will prioritize single-parent households, victims of gender violence, women facing long-term unemployment, and other vulnerable groups. Assessment processes will consider income levels and family circumstances.
