The Municipal Band of Estepona will perform Hugo Chinesta’s sinfonietta, conducted by the composer himself, in a free concert at the Felipe VI Auditorium. Invitations can be obtained at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center. This Saturday, March 15, at 20.00 hours, the premiere of ‘Estepona, the City of Flowers’ will take place at the Felipe VI Auditorium. The piece won the IV Composition Contest for Symphonic Band organized by the City Council of Estepona. The concert, led by Hugo Chinesta, aims to convey the sensations of Estepona through four passages: the Labyrinth of Flowers, the Palace of Orchids, the Corpse Flower, and the Plaza de las Flores. Admission is free with invitation, available for collection at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center on weekdays. The contest, with a prize of 10,000 euros, encourages composers to create symphonic works inspired by Estepona. The jury, including renowned professionals, selected Hugo Chinesta as the winner based on his vision of the city and musical composition project. The winning works from previous editions are already part of the Municipal Band of Estepona’s archive. Hugo Chinesta, a composer and conductor, has received various awards and recognitions for his compositions. He has conducted several musical groups and is currently the conductor of La Lira de Alfarb and a composition professor in Madrid. The concert program will feature Chinesta’s compositions along with other pieces by the Municipal Band of Estepona.
