The Plaza Virgen del Rocío in Estepona, part of the Terraza Street renovation project, has undergone a complete transformation to become a more open and accessible space in the historic center. The official inauguration ceremony will include a rociera celebration with live music performances. The square’s comprehensive remodeling has enhanced its aesthetics and accessibility, making it a prominent meeting point. The sculpture dedicated to the Virgen del Rocío now enjoys greater visibility, surrounded by pedestrian-friendly areas for relaxation. The pavement modifications have created a seamless pedestrian experience, while new water supply, drainage infrastructure, and street lighting have been installed. Estepona City Council aims to elevate the significance of this popular square, recognizing the efforts of the Hermandad del Rocío de Estepona and celebrating the town’s connection with Almonte through their twinning. The inauguration event is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, starting at 13.00 hours, featuring performances by Monica Garrido, Los piratas flamencos, the Choir of the Brotherhood of El Rocío de Estepona, and DJ Michael Thin.
